Television host Rocsi Diaz (from BET’s 106th & Park) is livid today after someone created a fake photo and story accussing her of shoplifting and going to jail.
It started off as a simple Twitter joke but Rocsi took the situation to heart.
A bored Twitter idiot alleged that Rocsi Diaz was arrested in Miami for stealing merchandise from Wet Seal clothing store. The guy thought it was going to be a funny prank but the story spread across Twitter like wild-flower. Rocsi became a trending topic in less than 30 minutes. It was so bad Senator McCain even said something about it.
Rocsi released a statement to the press via Global Grind a few hours ago: “It is unfortunate that all the attention on me is negative because of a joke that went too far. I find no humor in calling me a thief and what people fail to realize is that when wanting to do business with major companies — things like this hurt my image which I try to be a good example to young people. I’m no thief. The writer of this malicious story and anyone who writes false stories about anyone should be held accountable for their slanderous lies.”
Rocsi is threatening to sue the man over the false accusations but the guy keeps apologizing. Hopefully this will all fade away so Rocsi can go back to work, she needs to concentrate on the B.E.T. awards, not immature pranksters…
