Oprah’s Big Secret Revealed: She Has A ????

“Imagine my shock just a few months ago, at the end of October, when I found out I have another sister living just 90 minutes away,” Oprah said as she spoke to her audience this morning.

She went on to explain that her half sister - a single mother of two named Patricia - discovered she was related to Oprah in 2007. The discovery came after she had spent years searching for her birth mother – Oprah’s mother Vernita Lee – who gave her up for adoption in 1963 and refused to reconnect or meet with her. Oprah’s mother never explained why she gave her daughter up for adoption and never mentioned or claimed her.

“I was 9 years old at the time of [Patricia's adoption], living with my father in Nashville, Tennessee,” Oprah said. “I had no idea my mother was even pregnant.”

After a lifetime of not knowing, Oprah finally met the only living sibling she has left. Oprah’s brother and sister died, so Patricia is now Oprah’s only remaining sister.
