Nicki Minaj Slowly Becoming A Hip Hop Icon: The First Female Rapper on MTV’s “hottest MC’s list”
Nicki Minaj hasn’t come out with her debut album yet, but she just made hip hop history by becoming the first female rapper to be named on MTV’s “hottest MC’s list.”
“The list was based on lyrical ability, flow, commercial success and cultural impact,” MTV stated.
Nicki’s fame is climbing to the top of hip hop without selling 1 record. Should the other female rappers be jealous? Or should they applaud her fame and respect the game?
Nicki grew up in Queens, New York where she devoloped her up-north flavor. But what she did that made her successful is create multiple personalities to target all audiences. Should she be considered a hip hop goddess, or a marketing guru?
No matter what you think about Nicki Minaj, real name Onika Tonya Maraj, you have to applaud her for coming in at #6 on MTV’s “hottest MC’s list.”
Her debut album “Pink Friday” is due out on November 22: she moved the album date by one day compared to the original release date of November 23.
