“The Hangover Part II” faced multiple lawsuits in 2011 and almost survived by the skin of their teeth. The cases were dropped but the action isn’t over yet.

High Fashion brand Louis Vuitton just filed a high-class lawsuit against “The Hangover Part II” in New York federal court on Thursday, December 22, 2011. The brand is complaining about counterfeit LV bags used in the film during the airport scene where Zach Galifianakis carries an array of luggage marked LVM. Zach jokingly tells the baggage handlers/another character “Careful, that is… that is a Louis Vuitton.”

The fake luggage is made by Chinese American company Diophy, who is also being sued by LV to ban their knock-off products from being purchased in the United States. LV claims they warned “Warners” about using knock-off merchandise in the film. Warners however, apparently refused to alter the scene for DVD format.

Louis Vuitton is seeking financial damages with profits from the film and asking the courts to cease the DVD release to prevent the counterfeit material from being viewed continuously.
