Jennifer Hudson Family Murder Trial Continues Emotionally
Jennifer Hudson is a strong black woman to deal with tragedy this large.
According to the Chicago Tribune, “Prosecutors will continue presenting their case today in Day 2 of the trial of William Balfour, who is accused of killing three members of actress and singer Jennifer Hudson’s family in a jealous rage in 2008.
After an emotional first day of testimony Monday, highlighted by a tearful Hudson painting a tragic picture of a close-knit family torn apart by violent crime, the trial was set to resume at 10:30 a.m. at the Criminal Courts Building on Chicago’s West Side.
Prosecutors have not said who is expected to be called to the stand today but promised jurors in opening statements that their case would be a “meticulous and systematic” presentation of witnesses and physical evidence that will point to Balfour as the killer.
The witness list includes acquaintances and neighbors who are expected to testify they saw Balfour with a gun shortly before the murders and others who heard him threaten to kill his then-estranged wife, who is Jennifer Hudson’s sister, and her family.
Balfour is accused of fatally shooting Hudson’s mother, Darnell Donerson; brother Jason Hudson; and her 7-year-old nephew, Julian King, in October 2008 as an act of spite after Julia Hudson told him that she wanted a divorce.”
