Chris Lighty, One Of The Biggest Managers In Hip Hop History, Found Dead!
Chris Lighty, one of the biggest managers in hip hop for the past two decades is dead at the tender age of 44. Lighty owned entertainment conglomerate Violator: a record label, marketing group, media and management corporation.
Violator Management’s roster includes or included; Mariah Carey, 50 Cent, Diggy Simmons, Diddy, Missy Elliott, Swizz Beatz, Charles Hamilton, Busta Rhymes…
Authorities say Chris Lighty was found dead in his Bronx home from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. As of now, what appears to be a suicide is still being investigated.
Known for orchestrating major record deals, endorsements/sponsorships, commercials and brand merchandising, his absence in hip hop will be sorely missed.
Russell Simmons, credited for giving Light his first start in the music business through Rush Management, said Chris was “an amazing example of how a passionate kid from the street can go to the most even-keeled, smart, thoughtful manager in the business and a generous philanthropist.”
