Jay Z and Beyonce 300x206 Beyonce and Jay Z Applied to Trademark Blue Ivy“Blue Ivy,” seemingly the most popular baby name in 2012 will soon be trademarked, or so Beyonce and Jay-Z thought.

On January 26, 2012 Beyonce and Jay-Z applied their daughters name (Blue Ivy Carter) to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. It appeared to be a good plan but what they found out was very upsetting.

According to NME, “Fashion designer Joseph Mbeh applied to trademark ‘Blue Ivy Carter NYC’ on January 11, just four days after the baby was born and wanted to sell a range of children’s dresses, skirts and underwear. A second application was made on January 20 for ‘Blue Ivy Carter Glory IV’ to use on a line of fragrances. Mbeh has since apologized for attempting to trademark the name. Blue Ivy Carter has already been honoured in one particular way after drug shops in California named a new strain of marijuana after her.”

Thirsty sharks trying to make money off Jay-Z and Beyonce’s baby name is outrageous. Is it really that serious?
