An American diver has been killed by a great white shark in Western Australia States. The attack happened 500 yards north of Rottnest Island, a popular tourist destination.
Senior Sergeant Greg Trew of the Western Australia state police department spoke with the media about the shark attack.
“We received a call at the coordination center that a male had surfaced from the diving trip alongside the boat that he was diving from in a flurry of bubbles,” said Sergeant Trew. “He was suffering from a fatal shark attack. He had fairly horrific injuries.”
Island authorities did not release the name of the victim. The man had been living in Australian on a work visa. This was the second Australian shark attack in less than two weeks.
